This post is about fixing the driver issues of the PowerA fusion controller driver. PowerA Fusion controllers were not officially supported by Microsoft, so there was no official driver available for them. The PowerA Fusion controllers were designed as third-party controllers for Xbox consoles and were marketed as having some additional features beyond the standard Xbox controllers.
To use a PowerA Fusion controller, you would typically connect it to your Xbox console using the provided USB cable or wireless dongle, and the console would recognize it as a generic Xbox controller. In this case, you wouldn’t need any specific drivers for the controller itself.
However, please note that there may have been updates or developments since my last update in September 2021. I recommend checking the official PowerA website or contacting PowerA customer support for the most up-to-date information regarding driver availability for the Fusion controllers.
Device Overview
The PowerA Fusion Pro 2 is a wired Xbox Series X|S controller with plenty of premium features that will appeal to hardcore gamers who aren’t willing to settle for the official Microsoft solution. The Fusion Pro 2 offers premium features like removable back paddles, replaceable sticks, magnetic faceplates, and even a mic rocker to enable the controller’s “voice commands” functionality.
Setting up the controller is a snap; plug one end of its USB cable into your Xbox console or Windows 10 computer and it should start working right away. The other end of the cord fits neatly into a housing on the controller, much like an Elite’s, reducing the chances of it disconnecting or falling off.
Features
Unlike other gaming controllers that feature glossy areas where your hands will grip, the majority of the Fusion Pro 2 Midnight Shadow’s body is made from matte black plastic with a mild texture. The only exception is the front left grip, which wears an embossed PowerA logo. The bumpers and triggers also differ from the Elite’s, as they have a slightly more rounded Reuleaux triangle shape. This makes it harder to keep your fingers on both the trigger and bumper at the same time.
What’s New
For a wired controller that offers remappable buttons, trigger locks, swappable thumbsticks, and a quality carrying case, the Fusion Pro 2 is hard to beat. That being said, competition in this price range has gotten better over the years. For example, Razer’s flagship wired controller the Wolverine V2 Chroma costs a bit more but offers two extra remappable buttons, customizable RGB lighting, and an incredible sensitivity clutch that lets you adjust how quickly the joysticks actuate.
